Writer in Residence -- Evening with the Author: Alejandra Campoverdi

Writer in Residence -- Evening with the Author: Alejandra Campoverdi In-Person

Join us for an evening with this year's Writer in Residence, Alejandra Campoverdi, author of First Gen: A Memoir. We will host a conversation and book signing.

Alejandra Campoverdi is a nationally recognized advocate for educational opportunity and women's health, a bestselling author, founder, and former White House aide to President Obama.  First Gen is a two-time national bestseller, winner of the Martin Cruz Smith Award and the Dolores Huerta Award.  Part memoir, part manifesto, the book offers both a riveting personal story and an unflinching look at the unacknowledged tolls of being a "First and Only."  With candor and heart, Campoverdi shares her journey as a Mexican American woman raised by an immigrant single mother in Los Angeles, reflecting on the contradictions and sacrifices of navigating social mobility.  First Gen is ultimately a powerful testimony about generational inheritance, aspiration, belonging, and the true meaning of survival.

This event will be held in the Dezember Reading Room of the Walter W. Stiern Library, and is free and open to the public.
